I wanted the card to have a personal touch, so I quickly became inspired to model the character after her and thought this would be a great DIY to share.
Here are the supplies you need.
-construction paper in the colors you want your pieces to be
-comic strip of your choosing.
- paint; I used black and white for the dust and helmet shine
- Marker
- art knife; it helps with the detail cutting.
First I printed out the comic strip I wanted to use.
I then cut out the parts that I wanted to stand out from the background.
I chose the colors of construction paper I wanted to use and pasted the shapes to the back of the color paper I had chosen for it.
I painted the details on at this point, for example the tire stripes, dust cloud, and shine on the helmets.
After cutting out all the pieces I arranged my cutouts in the shape that I wanted it and placed the foam dots on the parts that I wanted to stick out.
After I was sure everything was where I wanted it, I began pasting.
I went back to look at a picture of my friend Hope and noticed she was wearing frill chaps, so I added those to the character as well.
After everything was finished I folded a piece of card stock pasted my character on the front and wrote the caption in gold marker.
I used different types of paper for different sections of the cutouts to give it texture, it's not necessary, but it's a fun touch.
